My spam folders are currently being inundated with oceans of weight loss spam!
Apparently, all I need to do to lose stacks of weight very quickly is take some amazing new supplement or drink a special kind of juice. Or buy a book touting some radical “new” diet.
Spammers and Fad Diet Peddlers are Making The Obesity Problem Worse
All of the products sold via these spam emails are total garbage. None of them will help you lose weight. The only thing you will lose if you buy these products is your money.
What really riles me up is that the scum who send this garbage are deliberately exploiting vulnerable people who are desperate to lose weight and improve their health.
Some people have tried everything they can to lose weight but just can’t manage it. So, they are willing to try anything. The problem is each time they try another useless weight loss product or another ridiculous fad diet, they will inevitably fail once again. And then they will feel even more hopeless and desperate. And, over time, their health and well being will become worse, not better.
So these weight loss spammers and all of the callous celebrities, fake doctors, and self-proclaimed health gurus who peddle fad diet books and programs are greatly contributing to the obesity epidemic that is sweeping many parts of the world. These people are responsible for the premature deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. They are responsible for the increasing ill-health of millions.
But, The Blame Must be Spread
Of course, they share this responsibility. There are other culprits here:
- The food industry, which has manipulated and social-engineered us for decades all for the sake of making obscene amounts of ill-deserved profit.
- Governments and gutless self-serving politicians who have bowed to the pressure applied by food industry giants and fed us all misleading information that has added to the obesity problem rather than helping to deal with it.
- And, last but certainly not least, our all too human propensity to seek shortcuts and avoid the emotional pain and sheer hard work that is required to actually lose weight and become healthier.
There is much more that needs to be said and done about these complex issues.
But, for now, let me reiterate:
Weight loss spammers are scum!
Those who use their fame or perceived expertise to sell dangerous and counterproductive fad diets are also scum.
